Stokesley and Northallerton Score in National Championships

Stokesley Photographic Society and Northallerton Camera Club represented the Northern Counties Photographic Federation in the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain National Slide Championships at Warwick on Saturday 9th July.

With a total of 33 clubs from the whole of Great Britain taking part, the championship is organised into two initial rounds of eight slides from each club, with the top eight clubs going into the final, and with a separate trophy to be contested for the remaining clubs.

At the end of the first round, Stokesley was leading, with Northallerton lying third.  After the second round, Stokesley was second and Northallerton fourth.  For the first time in the history of the championship, Northern Counties had both its representative clubs in the final.

The final of 20 slides from each of the eight clubs was hard fought and the result was Stokesley sharing second place with Amersham and Northallerton in fifth position.  In addition, John Davies achieved a maximum 15 marks for “Come in Number 5” and one Northallerton slide was awarded a Bronze medal.
