A fighting chance

How/Why I Did It:

I took this when I was covering the opening of Ayton's first boxing club for juniors - as a sort of experiment in motion. I realise there's a lot of space in the shot but I wanted to emphasise the speed and motion of the young boxers.

Comments
Keith Smith What a wonderful picture. Nothing really sharp with the movement of the fighters  just suggested and added to this the bright colours make an exciting scene. I like the way that you have taken the picture with the two fighters just at one end with their two small figures almost lost in what seems a very big ring.
Guy Davies This really works for me.  It is an example of a shot in which nothing is sharp, and yet it conveys the intended impression.  My only comment is that it might be nice to reduce the yellow cast from the artificial lighting just a little.  In Photoshop, you can add a cooling Photo Filter adjustment, but I’m not sure what is available in Elements.  It’s a great shot anyway.
Carol Hudson I really like the colours here- the red, blue yellow and think the blur effect has brought out the movement very well especially the left arm of the boy with his back to us. I like the fact that you can just about see the face of the boy facing us as well.  My attention is drawn to the 2 boys with the boxing ring forming a nice frame around them. I like the fact that they are placed to the right of the frame. The blur has removed some of the areas that are not so interesting.
Dave Wright A good trial in motion and love the main characters and the motion captured with them. What I find distracting is the back grounds with a light and dark extremes. We cannot always choose where we take a picture from. I think I would have also liked a bit more detail in the face shown and maybe a boxing glove or two. But a great way to try things out.
