Most months through the season we hold competitions for both slides and prints. There is also a competition for projected digital images.
In addition we always have at least one inter-club competition per year with a local society.
How to Prepare your Files for the Digital Images Competition
Resize the image in your formatting programme, such as Photoshop or Elements. Open the image that you wish to re-size. Choose Image > Resize > Image Size and a dialogue box will appear. In order to make the file size smaller the image will have to be resampled. Tick the boxes “Scale Styles”, “Constrain Proportions” and “Resample Image” Use the drop down arrow next to “Resample Image” and select “Bicubic Sharper”.
Once these options have been selected you can change the size of the image by changing the number of pixels. For a landscape format image change the width to 1024 pixels and the height will change automatically. Make sure that the height is not more than 768 pixels. For a portrait format image change the height to 768 pixels and the width will change automatically. Make sure that the width is no more than 1024 pixels.
Save the picture as a jpg file by choosing File > Save As > and in the drop-down box at the bottom of the screen choose jpg. Save the file at the highest quality if you are going to put the files onto a CD or DVD. If you are going to send the files by e-mail adjust the quality so that the files are no larger than one megabyte.
If you are writing the file to a CD/DVD make sure that you close the disk when you have written all three files to it. If you want to send your files by e-mail send them to paula @ pixelfoto.co.uk (miss out the spaces).
