Kings Cross

How/Why I Did It:

On a recent visit to London, I was impressed by the new entrance hall at King’s Cross Station. The picture is a bit busy but I guess that is what stations are like. I have lightened the right side a bit, boosted the colour saturation and added a poster edges filter. I have spent about 5 minutes on the picture and may return to it later. Any suggestions will be welcomed..

Paula Davies This is a super roof and I like your composition.  My first thought is that you should go back when there aren't any people around and take it again but I don't really think that's likely so dismiss that thought!  As you say London main line stations are always busy.  I like the way the man in the yellow jacket is isolated from the rest of the crowd.  Maybe you could tone down the red coats so that those people blend in more with the crowd.  The best parts of the image for me are the roof, the lighting in the shops and that man in the yellow jacket.  Poster Edges has done a good job.
Cath Wright This is a great shot with lots of activity to look at. You have managed to take it from a very good position with both the people and the physical structure of the station both shown to their best advantage. I particularly liked the character with the yellow jacket which brightened the scene in the foreground. Also, the shadows worked very well. Overall this is a lovely interesting shot.

The roof is very striking, and everything is nice and crisp. Your processing almost gives it an HDR-like look - but seems to work well with the subject. Yes, it is very busy but I don't think that matters. Cropping from the bottom almost to the base of the pillar removes some of the foreground clutter, and I think works quite well - but that is a different image and perhaps not what you wanted to portry.
